In case you haven’t caught on yet, I’m pretty big team “couples doing whatever the heck they want on their wedding day”, and well, these two did just that. They knew they wanted to get married but weren’t sure how big they were on the whole wedding thing, so instead they turned it into a giant two-day pizza party celebration with all of their closest friends and family. For a lot of their guests it was their first time in Santa Barbara, and Isaac and Scott were sure to give them the most authentic, fun experience possible.
Isaac and Scott wed in the Mural Room at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, which is super unique and historic in it’s own right. We spent the morning taking pictures around the courthouse, visited the bell tower, and greeted all of their guests. They wore shirts in patterns of their choice (tropical print and checkers!) and brand new sneakers they bought for the occasion. My favorite detail of the day was that they actually had each other’s thumbprints engraved into their wedding bands, which I think is pretty dang cool.
After a super short and sweet ceremony, Isaac and Scott mingled with their guests, took casual photos with friends and family, and then loaded everyone onto Landsharks to celebrate. For those wondering, a Landshark is essentially a giant boat/bus combo that drives the streets of Santa Barbara and then takes off into the ocean. I sadly wasn’t present for the landshark-ing, but I’m sure it was quite the damn party.
I joined them back again the next day for their “reception”, aka a picnic style lunch with Costco Pizza, Bounce Houses, lots of dogs, and lots of wine. It was the perfect way to celebrate a May wedding in Santa Barbara and was so perfect for the way Isaac and Scott wanted to celebrate their marriage. In short, I’ve got a whole lot of love for this laid-back wedding and I hope you will too!
